1960 Danish Style Toothill Daybed

Product description

A truly amazing 1960's Danish style daybed was produced by Toothill, the highly esteemed British company.  This deluxe daybed retailed through the exclusive high end British department store 'Heals'. It was a hit with affluent trend setters of the day and it's easy to see why.

The daybed has two  built in afromosia side-tables, supported by solid brass fixtures either side of the seat cushion. The side tables can be folded in or out to create can be folded out to create more seating space, or folded out to create more space for sleeping. The backrest also folds over to utilise the sofa as a bed, leaving the full width of the seat cushion free for sleeping.

The beautiful afromosia frame has stunning grains and is in astonishing condition. We have carefully cleaned, oiled, and polished the wood to give it a beautiful glow once again with very little signs of age.  All the copper fixtures have been carefully cleaned,  and new webbing has been fitted throughout.  The foam cushions have been replaced; the cushions and backrest have been reupholstered in 100% British wool which compliments the wood perfectly.

This is an incredibly stylish and sought after design; a beautiful piece of mid century furniture which would look amazing in a modern home.
